MESI 1.0 Reform - The beginning of Single Buyer Model in Malaysia with Single Buyer & Grid System Operator.
2012
Single Buyer (SB) is established as ring-fenced department in TNB.
2014
IBR³ & ICPT⁴ regime started for:
- Cost efficiencies
- Financial sustainability 3 - Incentive Based Regulation
4 - Imbalance Cost Pass Through
2015
ESA⁵ 1990 amended recognising SB as a ring-fenced entity.
2017
NEDA introduced
2019
MyPOWER reactivated and MESI 2.0 Reform started. Independent SB was proposed but Cabinet approval for Enhanced Ring-Fencing for SB & GSO.
2020
MESI 2.0 under review. Future-proofing MESI Study initiated.
2021
Launching of NEDA+ Introducing solar power producer as a new category
2023
The Future-proofing MESI study was approved by the Malaysian Cabinet. SB remains a ring-fenced entity, to be reviewed with decision for wholesale market.
2026
Potential establishment of Independent Single Buyer (ISB).
